I decided to give my brother my old camera for his birthday as he wanted one but he didn’t have the money for it; during our recent visit to our grandparents’ we went for a stroll down the beach to give Simone the opportunity to get the grips with the manual settings of his new toy
I remembered that two years ago I was walking – alone – along the same street with the very same camera trying to understand what exposure and F-stops were all about. These were the photos as I took them, when I didn’t know how to use Photoshop and life was easier. I had only managed to read the camera instructions and was trying to make sense of it all.
It’s hard to describe how it feels looking at them now. They are so different from what I am doing now. They are just… peaceful.
There is a beauty and a naiveté’ about them that I find humbling.
I think somehow they bring me back to a happier time of my life… I was ready to conquer the world and I knew all the opportunities were available to me.
I guess I felt as open as the sea.
